"Just wanted to say thank you for being so amazing with us! your techniques are immediately applicable and so simply brilliant. I feel like I have grown more in this past week as an actor than the whole of last year. You are truly unique."
“It was a joy to work with Miranda. Her attention to detail and technique guided me in the right direction for me to play a role that was very much a side step from my previous endeavours. Her teaching was never overwhelming and her positive vibe and sense of humour made it easy for me to trust myself in the steps I was taking. Thanks to her I've gone from comic foil to leading man!”
"I had an audition today, and I used the techniques I learnt while filming your class. It was the most amazing audition I've ever had, I've never felt so free and real. It wasn't forced or planned, and was completely connected to the reader. The things that happened surprised even myself. It was an amazing experience. The things I learnt from you are revolutionary to me, and have changed the way I will approach auditions, and screen acting in general, forever. Thank you for your class."
"That hour on Skype with you was a revelation. Am buzzing on it still. M Harcourt RULES!"
“Miranda is amazing. Working with her is always a new experience. She really helps me make each character truly unique. She is an inspiration and truly loves the art of film. I love the work I’ve gotten to do with Miranda!”
"She has an amazing ability to help prepare the actors," Garth Davis says of the in-demand Kiwi, who also helped him prepare his performers for Lion. "In this case, I brought her on to help the extras be really believable and ingrained in their performances, which is something that film-making often ignores. There is a traditional system that treats them as sheep and means they aren't properly directed and engaged and I just felt I didn't want to do that in this film. The extras are very important and the world I was creating was very important to me, so I wanted Miranda to enrich that world by workshopping them and getting them into that space. Also, she's just a great mate and we sometimes have long conversations about the film and throw ideas around. Miranda's a great intellectual co-pilot in that way and just a very special person."
"After working on Neighbours for 18 years I attended Miranda's masterclass seeking ways in which I could stimulate my work and improve my scene study and performance. I was thrilled to find that Miranda's approach has helped me do exactly that. Her clear and concise explanations of approach to performance stimulated my thinking to the point that my first week of work after the masterclass has felt fresh and exciting."
“Miranda is invaluable. She works tirelessly to ensure that every moment of an actor's performance is compelling; that every take is one they can stand by and one the director can work with in the edit. While working with Miranda on 'Under The Mountain' I felt safe in the knowledge that, if something wasn't working, she would always have a solution. Everything she gave us enhanced our work enormously, not to mention the production as a whole.”
Miranda’s skills as an actress and coach place her at the top of her field. The work she does is unique anywhere in the world.”
“My co-producer Fran Walsh and I employed Miranda to work with us in Philadelphia during the shoot of THE LOVELY BONES as the coach for the young New Zealanders Rose McIver (Lindsey Salmon) and Carolyn Dando (Ruth Connors) as they worked alongside Hollywood stars Susan Sarandon, Rachel Weisz, Mark Wahlberg and Stanley Tucci.”
“I truly believe Soul Surfer would not be Soul Surfer without you. Thanks so much for all you’ve done to lift the spirit and performances of our cast.”
“With her clear thinking and spirit of generosity, Miranda brought a rigorous yet kind process which supported our actors, young and old, leaving me clear to stay with the camera team during a tough schedule. I always knew my actors would come to set calm courageous and able to listen. Thank you Miranda.”
"Miranda worked intensely with Melanie Lynskey to help her find the character and win the role of Pauline Parker in Heavenly Creatures. She got great results quickly!"
“I recently started coaching with Miranda and my only regret is that I did not discover her earlier. What I love about her approach is that it is 100% practical and applicable. Whereas in other acting classes I sometimes think, "well, this is interesting but how on earth am I going to apply what I'm learning here to when I'm actually working", the reverse is true with Miranda. She gave me exercises that had a clear objective: to deepen my connection with the text, my character and the other actors I was working with. And they really worked. Furthermore, Miranda has great insight. She immediately identifies aspects of you/your performance that aren't serving you, explains why this is so, and then offers tools to change these habits. She is direct and clear but never aggressive. She creates a supportive, focussed learning environment that means you get a lot done but also have fun in the process. I wholeheartedly recommend Miranda to anyone with an upcoming film or TV role - or even an audition. She will make you better.”
Miranda was absolutely invaluable during my audition for Heavenly Creatures. In the course of just a few hours, she managed to help me give a performance that would convince Peter and Fran to trust me with such a difficult role. She taught me about screen acting, and gave me techniques that not only could my 15-year-old self easily understand and put into practice, but that I am still using in my work today. She helped me bring the intensity and emotion out of myself that the role required in a way that didn't damage me emotionally- she had a great understanding of what I was mature enough to handle, and pushed me without ever being scary or pushy, just supportive and encouraging.
"Leslie could never have come in full bloom without the freedom and life you showed me. You pulled Leslie out of me and I would never have won the award without your help. Thank you so much! I really hope we can do many more films together. I always feel so much more prepared after running the scenes and thoughts with you. You always have such great insights and techniques!"
“For me it is wonderful to have a coach who is sensitive to my way of working and can help the actor rehearse without making her stale. That way I can do all the director-type stuff and know the child is as well-prepared, better probably, than if I was helping her myself. Miranda is great."
"Miranda helped me so much in the research, development and performance of Lindsey Salmon in THE LOVELY BONES. I could not be more grateful for the work she has done, it was an absolute pleasure to have been introduced by Peter and Fran to such a talented actress and teacher."
"I'm so thankful to have met Miranda. After one lesson with her I viewed my acting in a whole new way. She gave me the tools to connect with my character, to connect with my fellow actors, to listen and respond without fear and to really let go and live in the scene. Miranda doesn't sugar-coat. She is a no nonsense teacher but you always feel that she is on your side. She creates a relaxed, inspiring learning environment. Across all genres, she knows her stuff and really understands actors. Miranda, thank you for putting me on the right track with acting."
"Thanks — it worked. I got the role and i am literally ecstatic! Everything is quite surreal and insane right now! So yeah, not my usual Monday. Thank-you so much for all your help it was so appreciated."
“I just want to say that the work you did with Edie was really amazing. Her world seems so deep with lots of information to source.”
Stella Adler once said, “Your talent is in your choices.” Miranda has a remarkable ability to draw out dynamic, specific, interesting choices, connecting your instincts with the character to create powerful and watchable performances.

"Miranda helped to make my first film role a really comfortable experience. She lifted my confidence and guided me with just the perfect effort."
"I want a mini Miranda Harcourt in my pocket when acting at all times. She is the best for working on text. Highly recommend!"
“Miranda – I cannot thank you enough for all the help you have given me on this shoot. I have learned a lot from you, and will always remember our time together… I hope to work with you again some day.”
"Working with Miranda was absolutely invaluable. With her insight and guidance I (along with the other actors and the director) was able to work on a significantly deeper level in a highly pressurized environment. I cannot recommend her highly enough, and my only regret is that I can't work with her on every job!"
“Her energy, tenacity and goal oriented nature was a breath of fresh air. She's a talent and a delight. I hope I get to work with her again soon. She's the stitch in time.”
